Creepy smiling MLB fans at the Dodgers-Mets promote a horror film

If you happened to look into the stands behind home plate during the broadcast of Game 2 of the NLCS between the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday afternoon, you would see a disturbing sight.

Two fans wearing neon yellow t-shirts were seen looking at the camera with creepy smiles and fans were worried. But is this something straight out of a horror movie? As it turns out, sort of!

The smiling “fans” were actually on hand to promote the upcoming horror film “Smile 2,” a sequel to 2022’s “Smile.” And this isn’t the first time the film’s promoters have exploited this tactic.

Before the release of the original, they did the same thing at MLB games, causing much concern and confusion among fans before it became clear that it was a publicity stunt.

I have to say, it’s a good way to spread word of mouth about the film. After all, they made me write this article. But there are probably less disturbing ways to achieve this.
