A Fond du Lac woman’s Halloween display raises money for St. Jude

FOND DU LAC (NBC 26) – Tina Myers of Fond du Lac is taking her love of Halloween to the next level while raising money for an important cause.

  • A Fond du Lac woman hosts a Halloween display at her home every year to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
  • People can donate by scanning a QR code or visiting this link.
  • The video shows the ad and what it means for the community.

Every Halloween, Tina Myers’ house is transformed into a spooky cemetery.
“People always ask me how many skeletons I have, and I don’t know,” Myers said. “It would be funny if someone counted.”

Myers said her Halloween display has grown significantly over the past 17 years of living on Melrose Boulevard.

“When it first started, I wanted to have Halloween parties for my daughter and her friends so the entire inside of my house was decorated,” Myers said. “But then as the kids got older and we stopped having parties as much, I thought I could just pay more attention to the outside of the yard.”

Now the exhibition is attracting the attention of the entire neighborhood.

“There are people all over the community that I don’t even necessarily know that come by and say they like the exhibit,” Myers said.

Three years ago, Myers decided to use her exhibit to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through QR codes posted outside the exhibit.

“At St. Jude they want every child to have the opportunity to see exhibits like this,” Myers said. “So if we can get rid of the cancer and help the child, that’s a great fundraiser.”

Eric Lane lives next door and said the exhibit brings the community together.

“We see people come by and look at it all the time, and it’s just a really positive thing in our neighborhood,” Lane said. “And you know, we are the beneficiaries. We can experience everything.”

In 2021, Myers said she only ran the fundraiser for a few weeks and raised about $300. Then in 2022, she raised more than $1,300. Last year she raised almost double that amount, $2,260.

This year, Myers hopes to increase the previous four years’ total to $5,000.

“It was incredible,” Myers said. “Especially when my family, my friends… I’m a hairdresser and all my clients… are so incredibly supportive of me when it comes to donating.”
