Texas A&M’s Wade Taylor IV was named preseason All-SEC

(KBTX) – Texas A&M guard Wade Taylor IV has been selected as a preseason first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection for the second straight year, according to a release from the conference on Monday.

The Aggies, ranked No. 13, were also picked to finish fifth in the conference, according to a media poll released Monday.

Taylor was the conference preseason player of the year last year, averaging 19.1 points and four assists per game. Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht won the 2023-24 Player of the Year award after averaging 21.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in his only conference season.

Alabama’s Mark Sears enters the coming season as the conference’s preseason player of the year. The fifth-year senior averaged 21.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and four assists with the Crimson Tide last season.

No other Aggies were named to the three All-SEC teams.

A&M trails Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and Arkansas in the preseason finishing order. Florida, Texas, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Mississippi State round out the top 10.
