College Football Playoff: CBS Sports predicts a 12-team CFP bracket and full bowl slate predictions after Week 7

Week 7 was one of college football’s most anticipated weekends early in the season and it certainly lived up to the hype. Featuring numerous top matches with ranked programs and numerous epic games from the best teams in the country.

The new 12-team College Football Playoff format means every single weekend is critical to postseason play. And this Saturday was no different, as the weekend’s results quickly changed the rankings and predictions of what the expanded CFP and other bowl games could look like.

CBS Sports has updated its predictions for the College Football Playoff and all post-regular season bowl games following Week 7 action. Check out the full predictions and some teams’ progress below.

Texas remains at the top of the CBS rankings and the AP poll after the comfortable victory over its rival Oklahoma this weekend. Remain undefeated and beat the Sooners 34-3 in the 120th edition of the Red River Rivalry.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers returned from his abdominal injury this weekend after missing the team’s last two games. And it comes at a perfect time, as the Longhorns face their biggest task of the season Georgia Visit this weekend.

Despite the defeat along the way Oregon In a 32-31 thriller in Eugene, CBS still had Ohio State listed as the second seed for the College Football Playoff. After their first loss of the season, the Buckeyes are looking for a win in the Big Ten Championship and a first-round playoff bye.

There is no doubt that the Buckeyes are still a powerhouse with one of the deepest rosters in the country. Who is likely to face the Ducks again in the conference title game, in a potential neutral-site rematch for the ages?

The Miami Hurricanes had a bye week for Week 7. However, that didn’t stop the Hurricanes from maintaining their third-place spot as favorites for the ACC title after an impressive undefeated start to the season.

The Hurricanes have certainly kept it close lately, needing two comeback wins of more than 20 points in their last two games to remain undefeated. But the heroics of the new quarterback Cam Ward Miami looks like it could definitely beat any team in the country on a good day.

Iowa State climbs a whopping four spots in CBS’ eyes after its sixth straight win this weekend and is now in the first round of the playoffs. Defeat West Virginia 28-16 away at Morgantown to remain undefeated.

The Cyclones securing a fourth-place finish means they would win the Big 12 title this year in a conference that has been anything but good this season. But through it all, they have remained consistent and are just one of two teams in the league still undefeated.

Oregon is the first team to remain at No. 5 despite facing Ohio State this weekend. It’s hard to beat a team twice, but the Ducks have moved up to No. 2 in the AP poll despite CBS’ playoff prediction.

The Ducks would also have to beat Boise State a second time if they were to reach this tie in the CFP. With the Broncos still holding the title of top-ranked Group of Five team, led by the best running back in the country.

BYU jumps from out of the top 12 to the No. 9 seed after another big conference win. Stay undefeated with a 41-19 win on Saturday Arizona at home, where they have had big wins all season so far.

The Cougars would make a trip to Happy Valley to face Penn State in this scenario. Who also made a jump in the rankings after winning an overtime thriller against him USC this weekend in Los Angeles.

A College Football Playoff matchup between two SEC opponents seems inevitable this postseason. What CBS plans to do with Texas A&M visiting Tuscaloosa to face an acquaintance from Alabama.

Alabama won a surprisingly close game at home this weekend against South Carolina That remains a concern after the surprising loss to Vanderbilt. While Texas A&M is still the only 3-0 team in SEC play coming off its bye week.

CBS predicts another regular-season rematch in the first round of the expanded CFP, with Clemson taking on Georgia in Athens. A rematch that won’t be far from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the two teams faced off in Week 1.

The Tigers look brand new and boast one of the best offenses in the country after their embarrassing Week 1 performance against the Bulldogs. While Georgia still has many challenging matchups on the schedule, they want to keep their postseason hopes alive.
