Does Caleb Williams play BETTER than Jayden Daniels?

Does Caleb Williams play BETTER than Jayden Daniels?

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz is about the No. 1 overall pick’s strong play and comparisons to the player picked right after him.

Caleb Williams took his talents across the pond and led the Bears to a 19-point victory over the Jaguars, 35-16, with a performance worthy of his draft status as the No. 1 overall pick.

Stugotz doesn’t let himself get caught up in the moment and wants to get something off his chest: Williams had a better performance than Washington’s celebrated rookie Jayden Daniels for the second week in a row! That’s right – Stugotz says Caleb Williams is playing better than Jayden Daniels right now. Now Stugotz says you couldn’t tell in the first few weeks of the season, but you can say it now. The Bears have a quarterback, they have receivers, and even though Stugotz predicted the Bears’ run to the Super Bowl, he wants to go on record saying that Williams looks BETTER than Daniels.

That’s not to say Daniels had a bad game on Sunday, in fact Stugotz says he had a good game. He was fine. Which leads Jessica to ask an important question:

“Is it possible that they’re both just really good?”

Hmmm….

Chris wants to know why we have to pit them against each other, and Stugotz says we’ll be pitting them against each other for the rest of time. Stugotz says he’s just pointing out that Bears fans may have thought they took the wrong guy the first three weeks of the season, and now they may not think so.

Jessica doesn’t necessarily think Bears fans felt that way. She says there may have been some grumbling about “the same old Bears,” but she doesn’t think they were ready to close the book on Williams. She points out that her family of die-hard Bears fans aren’t freaking out about Caleb. However, Stugotz sticks to his guns and says that if you have a QB at 1 and another team takes a QB at 2 and they get off to the start that Daniels did in Washington, you might think that Caleb might still be good, but that was one Don’t take THAT guy.

Jessica closes the segment by pointing out that the Bears’ upcoming schedule – at Washington, at Arizona and at home against New England – should give Caleb a chance to look pretty good. But games against the Packers, Vikings and Lions could bring him back down to earth. And those are just the ups and downs of life with a rookie QB under center.

Hour 1: Life is worth living

We start with Lucy’s trip to Oregon against Ohio State, which was one of the best experiences of her working life and one of the best games of an incredible college football weekend. Greg and Stu discuss the game, which Greg claims to have seen every snap of, but Chris doesn’t know how Greg pronounces “Oregon.” Then Caleb Williams showed up and showed up in London, and Stugotz believes he may be just ahead of Jayden Daniels in the rookie QB rankings. What else does Caleb Williams’ experience tell the Crew about Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins? It’s also time for Stugotz’s weekend observations.

Lesson 2: Punting Circles

Is it possible to hear things from the NFL’s “punting circles”? Then Peter Rosenberg from Ebro In The Morning and the Michael Kay Show joins us before a big day in New York sports.
