Mark Stoops hilariously apologizes for not playing Jamarion Wilcox anymore: Kentucky Football

The Kentucky Wildcats put together an embarrassing performance against the Vanderbilt Commodores, where the offense was only able to muster 13 points against one of the SEC’s worst defenses.

It might have helped if Kentucky had given Jamarion Wilcox more touches, as he continues to be the Cats’ most explosive running back and could really help this offense with more touches.

But for whatever reason, Wilcox continues to see limited touches. He only had three carries against the Dores, but managed to throw for 35 yards on them, a game-high 11.7 yards per carry, without catching a single pass.

So why isn’t Wilcox playing anymore?

During his press conference on Monday, Mark Stoops shared an eye-opening quote about why the redshirt freshman isn’t seeing snaps anymore: Wilcox needs to learn to tie his shoes.

Phew. It’s not good for your head coach to throw a player under the bus like that.

It’s pretty clear that Stoops said that Wilcox needs to mature in his attitude, which is probably what Stoops should have said. The quote he actually gave really alienates Wilcox in a completely unnecessary way.
