Morton wants to use hundreds of thousands in funding to renovate the production building

MORTON (25News Now) – The Village of Morton will use more than half a million dollars in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to renovate a closed manufacturing building for another business.

The village will convert the permanently closed, 42,159-square-foot Marion Manufacturing building at 701 Flint Avenue into manufacturing and office space for Eureka company Crane Equipment & Service Inc.

The village will also use the money to purchase and install equipment.

The project is estimated to cost more than $5 million, with $600,000 funded by CDBG grant funds. Chase Bank will pay $3.2 million and Crane Equipment & Service Inc. will contribute $1,371,535.

The village plans to submit an application to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to release the CDBG funds in late October.

The project is expected to start in the fall. The village hopes to complete renovations by fall 2026.
