Brooklyn’s Miss Cherry Delight releases a new paranormal single and music video with Vision Video

Brooklyn’s Miss Cherry Delight releases new single and music video ahead of her first tour.

“Glow in the Dark” explores the idea that ghosts aren’t necessarily something to be afraid of.

“This is a song about a paranormal sexual encounter. When I was younger, I read an article about celebrities who had this experience and I never forgot it,” said Delight. “I really liked the concept that maybe you don’t have to be afraid of the things that lie in the dark. Maybe you can have fun with things in the dark.”

Delight knew the song was intended as a duet, so she teamed up with Dusty Gannon of Vision Video to bring the song to life.

“Cherry asked me to sing as a guest vocalist on this song in 2021 and I was immediately interested because she is a good friend but also a phenomenally talented singer-songwriter,” Gannon said.

“We are both singers with a lot of expressiveness in our voices, so I think making a song that was both passionate and entertaining was the right way to go,” said Delight. “I’m someone who believes that a duet doesn’t just have to be two people singing together. I think there is a possibility of a conspiracy.”

“Glow in the Dark” was recorded back in 2021. Even though the song was completed some time ago, Delight felt it needed a music video to release. Directed by Dylan Mars Greenberg, the music video for “Glow in the Dark” shows a woman celebrating her birthday with friends when she has a paranormal encounter with a ghost, played by Gannon.

The video is set in a private home with gothic decor and bright images that accompany the tone of the song, as well as practical effects.

“When we made the video, we were inspired by Hammer Horror and Roger Corman’s Poe films like Masque of the Red Death. “We wanted to do something really cinematic, with a story and vivid images,” said Greenberg.

“It turned out exactly as I dreamed it would because Dylan Mars Greenberg understands my vision like no one I’ve ever met. It’s almost like she can finish my sentences with whatever I want,” Delight said. “I wanted a really romantic Hammer, horror, fearless, vampire killer feel to it. And I get to play the ingénue, I’ll never be able to do that.”

Although Gannon lives in Georgia, he was not excluded from filming. He actually shot all of his roles in the video over Zoom.

“It was an interesting video to shoot as I had to do all my parts remotely in front of a green screen since I live in Georgia and couldn’t be in NYC for the shoot. Cherry and Dylan guided me over a Zoom call, but I think it worked incredibly well given that limitation,” Gannon said.

“We directed him while he recorded himself on camera. We also did a 3D scan of his body so he can go in and out through walls and mirrors,” Delight said. “What we did that was really cool in this video is we did a practical effect for Dusty because he’s a ghost in the video. The practical effect is called “Pepper’s Ghost.” This is essentially a real practical effects hologram that we used to make Dusty’s face appear in the crystal ball in the video.”

The music video also stars Mia the MVP, “Princess Danielle” Smith, Dori Schmidt, Herbie Hoover, Weldon the Third, Johnny Molina and John Wlaysewski (from the band Late Cambrian).

“[The actors] were perfect. They couldn’t have been more perfect,” Delight said.

Both Delight and Gannon are excited to show the world the work that went into the song and video.

“I’m so excited that it’s finally coming out. “It’s a really great song and it’s always fulfilling to show everyone what you’ve been working on,” Gannon said. “Art is meant to breathe through experience and it is satisfying to know that it is finally reaching the public.”

“I’ve been waiting for people to hear this for so long, I’m so proud of this title. I think it turned out just great, the way Justin produced the track is flawless. I’m just so proud and so happy,” Delight said. “I truly believe this song is going to be something that people are really going to get excited about and love.”
