Two men showed up at a luxury Michigan home near Detroit on successive days, claiming to be workers from the local energy company looking for gas leaks. The first night the homeowners refused to let them in, but the next day a 72-year-old homeowner took them to the basement.

That’s when the two men murdered the man, later identified as Hussein Murray, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. The victim’s wife called officers shortly before noon Friday and told them she had been tied up by two men posing as DTE Energy workers. She said she believed they had kidnapped her husband. When officers checked the house, they found Murry dead in the basement.
