As per NCTE’s guidelines, school education authorities in India are required to conduct teacher aptitude tests to ensure that only qualified candidates are selected for the teaching posts. According to these guidelines, WBPPE conducts primary TET at regular intervals.

Applications for TET 2023 were submitted in the months of September and October. It was reported that the board received more than 2.5 lakh applications for the TET exam.

WBBPE TET 2023 Exam Overview

The WB TET 2023 was held in the form of a standard pen and paper test. This test was structured with objective questions. Each of these questions had multiple choice answers from which candidates had to select the one correct answer. The total number of questions asked in the exam was 150.

These questions can be answered in one of two languages – English or Bengali, giving candidates the flexibility to choose the language they are most comfortable with. A time frame of 3 hours was given for carrying out the test. It is important to note that this test did not provide a penalty for incorrect answers. For each question answered correctly, candidates received 1 point.

WB TET Qualifying Marks

For the West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test (WB TET), passing or qualifying marks are crucial in determining a candidate’s suitability for teaching jobs. According to the norms set by the WBBPE, applicants who obtain a score of 60% or more in the examination are considered qualified.

Applicants must achieve these qualification grades, however it is important to note that this does not directly secure a job. It simply means that the person is eligible to be considered for various apprenticeships. The reason for setting such pass or proficiency grades is to ensure that those who pass the exam have the required level of understanding and competence. This is a step towards maintaining a level of quality in education and ensuring that educators joining the teaching community have the necessary knowledge and skills.
