LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Las Vegas Raiders are looking to bounce back from their disastrous 34-18 loss to the Denver Broncos last week. This Week 6 game takes place within the safe confines of Allegiant Stadium, but the opponent is a tough 3-2 Pittsburgh Steelers team.

Remember the rule of five. The game is over if the Las Vegas Raiders win this important statistical battle. For those who don’t remember, it has to do with sacks and envelopes. If the Raiders have three sacks and give up two, they are plus-one. They have a plus-three if they commit four turnovers and give up just one. That would give them a plus four for the day. They want to achieve a plus-five ratio in every game. On average, teams that achieve the Rule of Five Scenarios win 91 percent of their NFL games.

The Raiders will have a new signal caller this week in Aidan O’Connell. Gardner Minshew won the starting job in the preseason, but after leading the team to a 2-3 record with two unacceptable losses, the Raiders will explore their chances with O’Connell.

Head coach Antonio Pierce told reporters this week it was his decision on what he thought was best for the offense.

The Raiders are looking to bounce back from last week’s demoralizing loss to the Broncos. This week, Pierce talked about the importance of a tough culture and the ability to bounce back from mistakes. The example given was the faltering pick-six that gave the Broncos a big boost.

“It’s a lesson, and we’re trying to do it on the side while this is happening,” Pierce said. “You could feel it. It was real. I’m not going to hide from it, am I? We could feel the air from our team a little bit and say, ‘Guys, it’s a play.’ And if we really look at the game, probably two series later, we had the ball at the 50-yard line and had a great opportunity to make a play. We didn’t make it, but kept them behind. And there are so many plays in the game where you can change the momentum and get it back on our side and we didn’t do that and we have to find a way. And it’s not a single person, it’s not a single entity a team doing this together.”

Coming off a heartbreaking last-second loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week, the Steelers are, as always, competently coached by Mike Tomlin and impressive on both ends.

The Raiders started strong offensively, scoring a touchdown on their first drive. Methodical, commanding, a statement. However, the offense remained weak as the first half progressed.

The game turned out to be what was expected – a physical, defensive clash between two traditional franchises. A fumble by Dylan Laube resulted in a Steelers score that gave them the lead.

The Raiders will get the ball to start the second half.
