St. Paul experiences second murder this weekend with fatal shooting Saturday evening – InForum

ST. PAUL — Homicide detectives in St. Paul are investigating a second violent death this weekend after a man was shot Saturday evening.

Police responded to reports of a shooting near Woodbridge Street and Wheelock Parkway just before 10 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from St. Paul Police Sgt. Mike Ernster.

When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the ground near the intersection with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers administered first aid until the St. Paul Fire Department arrived. The victim was taken to Regions Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting marks the 22nd homicide of 2024 in St. Paul. This time last year there were 27 homicides.

The St. Paul Police Department counts 21 homicides this year because the department’s records relate to cases investigated by the department. A homicide in St. Paul this year was investigated by the Metro Transit Police Department.

In another violent death this weekend, a man was stabbed in the parking lot of a Lowertown gas station around 5:30 p.m. Friday. According to police, it was apparently the result of an argument between two men in the gas station.
