Detroit Lions Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Detroit Lions Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Detroit Lions want to stay in shape to get healthy again after the break.

Next up for the Lions is the Dallas Cowboys in a nationally televised showdown on Sunday. It will be the first meeting between the two teams at the same venue since last year’s thriller.

The Cowboys have had the upper hand over the Lions in the past, with 19 wins to Detroit’s 12 in 31 total meetings. Dallas has won the last six meetings and Detroit’s last win against them came in 2013.

It carries similar weight to the Lions’ Week 4 game against Seattle, with the win ending a long losing streak against that opponent. Now Detroit has a chance to end another losing streak.

“The fact is, we want this game. And we – you want to win this game,” coach Dan Campbell said Sunday on Fox 2’s Game Day Live. “We had a chance, we’re going to get a chance here. “We’ve got to play clean football and earn it like that we do it every week.”

The Lions want to compete in the NFC North, which has been the most competitive division in football. Minnesota is in its bye week after a 5-0 start, while Chicago won in London on Sunday morning to improve to 4-2 on the year.
