At least four injured in shooting after party in Newberry

NEWBERRY, SC (WIS) – Newberry Police are investigating a shooting that left four people injured late Friday night.

On Friday, officers from the Newberry City Police Department and the Newberry County Sheriff’s Department were monitoring the parking lots around Many Moons Artistry on Lindsay Street due to a large party.

Authorities said around 12:45 a.m. Many Moons Artistry employees shut down the party and several hundred people left the building at the same time. About 10 minutes later, officers said they heard four to six gunshots coming from the parking lot area of ​​1400 Martin St.

According to Newberry police, at least four victims have been identified and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The victims were taken to the hospital by private vehicle for treatment of their injuries.

Officers were later notified that the bar was being rented out for a private party and are working with them to help identify the suspects responsible for this incident. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Police Chief Kevin Goodman said the city of Newberry remains one of the safest cities in the state, but like all other places, it still has a few that cause controversy.

“Once identified, these individuals will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent possible,” Goodman said.
