Chicago Marathon participants are motivated by their desire to achieve incredible feats, but top finishers also receive a healthy paycheck for their efforts.

In fact, the prize money in the men’s and women’s open divisions totals $560,000, and the prize money in the top-place men’s and women’s wheelchairs totals $240,000, according to officials.

Winners of the men’s and women’s Masters classes will also receive checks, with the first place winner receiving $2,000 and the second and third place winners receiving $1,500 and $1,000, respectively.
