Samson Dauda is at the top of the bodybuilding world after winning the Mr. Olympia competition on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

The Nigerian Lion defeated 2022 champion Hadi Choopan and 2023 winner Derek Lunsford to take the top prize in the open bodybuilding event, one of the most demanding competitions in the sport.

  3. Lunsford
  4. Martin Fitzwater
  5. Andrew Jacked

It wouldn’t be surprising at all if Dauda repeats as Mr. Olympia in 2025. A tireless worker who arrived in Las Vegas in the best shape of his life, he wrestled the crown from the previous two champions in an emphatic statement from the 32-year-old. year old.

Given the current developments in the competition, it would also be unsurprising if it were not repeated.

For decades, the Mr. Olympia event was defined by its repeat winners. Arnold Schwarzenegger won seven titles in a row. Ronnie Coleman set the standard with eight wins. Dorian Yates, Phil Heath and Lee Haney have all won multiple times in a row.

Since Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay won in 2020 and 2021, the event has featured a different winner every year.

This is a testament to the depth and quality of the competition.

Arguably the most consistent bodybuilder in the sport, Choopan could have easily earned the judges’ recognition over the past two years and completed a three-year streak as champion.

It wouldn’t surprise anyone if the tenacious workhorse returns to Vegas in a year and reclaims the Mr. Olympia title, adding a second to his resume.

The same goes for Lunsford, who won a year ago but slipped to third place in this year’s competition amid one of the strongest fields in years.

The only name to watch is fourth-place finisher and internet personality Fitzwater.

“The Martian” had great energy and was a fan favorite in Vegas. After a year of further refining his body and working on his overall presentation, he could easily finish in the top two and pose a real threat for the title.

Despite all of this, Choopan is such a consistent top-four contender that he would have to be considered one of the early favorites to win next year’s event, especially if it shows the form he had in 2024.

Way too early prediction for 2025: Choopan wins his second
