Loss to Vanderbilt, Rick Pitino and volleyball host Texas

Loss to Vanderbilt, Rick Pitino and volleyball host Texas

Good morning, people! So how do we feel after…what the hell that was last night?

I myself? I’m just a little confused. Confused because I have no idea who this Kentucky team is. I believe The defense has to be good (and they were last night). Diego Pavia had a fair number of moments), but I lack any confidence at this point in the offense’s ability to perform consistently. Kentucky had more first downs, more passing yards and more rushing yards than Vanderbilt, but was assessed seven more penalties as the Commodores took control of the possession battle. The Wildcats finished the game with just two possessions. This is how you lose a game 20-13. A missed field goal and an extra point due to poor holds will also get you there. Those extra four points would have been nice down the stretch.

Mark StoopsThe teams have now lost 10 of their last 12 games against SEC opponents. Fans left Kroger Field in droves midway through the third quarter. Kentucky had a chance to win the game in the final minutes and the stadium was half empty. Fans seem to be growing tired of the confusion I share. A group that defeated a very good Ole Miss team on the road two weeks ago was heading home after a bye week against Vanderbilt – of all teams – at home. There was a severe lack of discipline. Vanderbilt (VANDERBILT!!!) didn’t lag behind for a second.

Before we get into KSR’s excellent postgame content and everything else that awaits you on your Sunday, I’ll leave you with this Kash Daniel tweet…

Rick Pitino went on KSR (no, he seriously did)

Rick Pitino shocked Big Blue Nation (and, frankly, most of the college basketball world) when he appeared alongside him at the end of Big Blue Madness on Friday Mark Pope. Now that Pope is running the show, he wants to get back into the good graces of the fan base, and if it was Friday night, he’ll be welcomed back with open arms.

Pitino took things a step further and decided to make his voice heard by every member of the Bluegrass State when he appeared on the KSR Pregame Show yesterday. He spoke about donating 15,000 NIL to the football program and the emotions he felt on the floor of Rupp Arena as fans cheered him on. For a full rundown of everything else he had to say, click the link Hereor just listen to the man himself via the audio player below.

Anthony Thompson accepts BBM offer

Kentucky men’s basketball brought just two recruits to Lexington for Big Blue Madness. One was Academia Lewisa 2025 four-star point guard who actually celebrated his birthday on the day of BBM. For Pope, the Wildcats are considered the favorite to lock him up, and that hasn’t changed since his official visit was in the books.

The other addition to Lewis was the 2026 four-star winger Anthony Thompson. The 1.80 meter tall Ohio native is considered the 18th best high school junior in the country in the On3 Industry Rankings. During his visit to Great Britain, Thompson received an offer from the coaching staff. He is the 10th 2026 prospect to receive a scholarship from Kentucky. Thompson has upcoming visits to Ohio St. (October 13), Michigan (October 19) and Michigan State (October 20).

Kentucky volleyball hosts Texas

After being honored on the court during Vanderbilt’s 2023 SEC Championship game (the seventh consecutive time, I might add), Kentucky Volleyball will visit the Memorial Coliseum later today for a very important SEC -Take over match. The No. 12 Wildcats host No. 7 Texas this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. EST on ESPN.

This will be a rematch of the 2020 national championship game where Kentucky defeated Texas in four sets to win the program’s first title. But the Longhorns have won two Nattys in a row, thanks in large part to the support of two former Wildcats Reagan Rutherford And Madisen Skinner – two candidates for national player of the year in the preseason.

Kentucky is still the SEC’s dominant volleyball school until proven otherwise, but Texas is quickly on its way to the crown. There’s a lot at stake this afternoon as Craig Skinner’s team looks to claim their first top 10 win of the season.

KAT vs. Randle (and Dillingham) on ESPN

Interested in some tires? NBA preseason action is underway and there’s a particularly interesting matchup taking place tonight. The Knicks host the Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. EST on ESPN, which will be the first game against their former teams Karl Anthony cities And Julius Randlewhich were swapped for each other in a blockbuster deal earlier this month. Towns was traded from the Wolves to the Knicks, while Randle was shipped from the Knicks to the Wolves. A cat-for-cat exchange, if you will.

This will also be a good opportunity to take a look at Rookie Rob Dillingham for the wolves. In two preseason games so far, he has averaged 14 points and 6.5 assists per appearance with just one total turnover. The shooting numbers still aren’t great, but Dillingham is still must-see TV when he’s on the field.
