Jacksonville Jaguars vs Chicago Bears live thread

LONDON – The Jacksonville Jaguars begin the first of two games in London today, facing a 3-2 Chicago Bears team in a game that comes dangerously close to a win.

Remember the rule of five. The game is over if the Jacksonville Jaguars win this important statistical battle. For those who don’t remember, it has to do with sacks and envelopes. If the Jaguars have three sacks and give up two, they are plus-one. They have a plus-three if they commit four turnovers and give up just one. That would give them a plus four for the day. They want to achieve a plus-five ratio in every game. On average, teams that achieve the Rule of Five Scenarios win 91 percent of their NFL games.

The Jaguars have the NFL’s worst record in 2024 at 1-4, with their only win of the season coming last week against the Indianapolis Colts in a last-minute 37-34 win.

The long-awaited victory significantly boosted morale at the Miller Electric Center and among the Jaguars’ fan base, but did not do nearly as much to assuage the miserable start to the season.

Simply put, the Jaguars need to come out of the gates in Week 6 with momentum.

The Matt Eberflus-led Bears boast dynamic talent on both sides of the ball with names like Caleb Williams, DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Montez Sweat, Tremaine Edmunds and Jaylon Johnson. The Jaguars can’t afford to take them lightly for a second.

With that in mind, the Jaguars know internally that they need to make a run Now to save the 2024 season. The Jaguars were the only winless team in the NFL prior to the Colts win, as the Jaguars started 0-4 and lost three games by one point each.

Can the Jaguars, led by Trevor Lawrence, Brian Thomas Jr., Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker, return to their previous winning formula in London? That’s the question that arises on Sunday, when the Jaguars have officially won three of their last four games in London.

Jacksonville and Chicago have met only eight times since 1995. The Bears have a two-game lead in the series (3:5) and won the last duel on December 27, 2020 with 41:17.
