2024-25 NBA season milestones with LeBron James, Stephen Curry and more

As the 2024-25 NBA season begins, LeBron James, Stephen Curry and several other players are poised to further cement their legacy in league history.

LeBron James, Stephen Curry and other players will etch their names even deeper into NBA history as the 2024-25 season progresses. With a landscape that is constantly evolving, this season is full of milestones to watch. When these legends and other stars take the court, fans can look forward to exciting moments and record-breaking successes.

LeBron James

50,000 points in the pipeline

LA Lakers superstar LeBron James made history two seasons ago when he passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. With a career total of 40,474 regular season points and 8,162 postseason points, he is now just 1,364 points away from reaching the remarkable milestone of 50,000 career points.

A new milestone in NBA minutes awaits

LeBron James is just 850 minutes away from passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most regular season minutes played in NBA history. After averaging 35.3 minutes per game last season, he could reach that major milestone by the Lakers’ Game 24 on Dec. 8 against the Portland Trail Blazers, assuming he maintains his health and manages his workload effectively.

We are approaching the all-time record for games played

LeBron James is on pace to surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 1,560 regular-season games played if he plays in 69 games this season. That would put him just behind Robert Parish, who holds the record for most games played with 1,611.

Chasing the 30-point all-time record

With just nine more 30-point games, LeBron James is on pace to surpass Michael Jordan’s record of 562 for most such performances in league history. Last season, he scored 30 or more points in 22 games and was well on his way to reaching that historic milestone.

Approaching charity strip excellence

James is steadily climbing the all-time free throw rankings. With just 142 more successful free throws this season – up from 303 last year – he will surpass Moses Malone’s total of 8,531 and secure second place in NBA history. Karl Malone’s all-time record is an impressive 9,787 free throws made.

First father-son duo

After being selected 55th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, Bronny James is ready to make history by stepping onto the court as a teammate of his father, LeBron James. This milestone marks the first time in NBA history that a father-son duo will compete together, assuming both are active players next season.

Stephen Curry

I’m eyeing 4k with three pointers

This season, Golden State Warriors forward Stephen Curry is aiming for an impressive milestone: 4,000 three-pointers in his career. After becoming the NBA’s all-time leading three-point scorer in 2021, he is ready to add another achievement to his illustrious career. Since Curry has already made 3,747 three-pointers, he only needs 253 more to reach this remarkable regular-season milestone.

In the range of 25,000 career points

Stephen Curry is within striking distance of 25,000 career points. As he enters his 16th season with the Golden State Warriors, he needs 1,332 points to reach this milestone. If he maintains last season’s pace, he could accomplish that feat in the Warriors’ 50th game on Feb. 8 against the Chicago Bulls.

Kevin Durant

Slender Grim Reaper eyeing 29,000 points

Following LeBron James on the all-time leaderboard, Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant is just 76 points away from reaching the impressive milestone of 29,000 career points.

After averaging 27.1 points per game last season, the 14-time All-Star has a clear path to that milestone provided he stays healthy. If all goes well, Durant could reach that mark by the Suns’ third game of the season against the Dallas Mavericks on October 26th.

James Harden

The goal is to climb into the three-point ranks

LA Clippers guard James Harden is poised for a significant achievement in his career. With 2,940 three-pointers in his career, he only needs 34 more to pass Ray Allen for the second-most goals in NBA history.

Russell Westbrook

Almost 200 triple-doubles in his career

Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook is just one triple-double away from reaching the extraordinary milestone of 200 in his career. The all-time leader with 199 triple-doubles, he is on the verge of becoming the first player to reach that number.

Nikola Jokic

Steadily climbing the triple-double ladder

Westbrook’s new teammate Nikola Jokic is also making progress in the triple-double category as he is just nine away from overtaking Magic Johnson and securing third place on the all-time list. Last season, Jokic recorded 25 triple-doubles, bringing his career total to 130. If he maintains this level of performance, he will be well placed to continue moving up.

Chris Paul

Chasing temporary greatness

Chris Paul is currently third on the all-time assists list with 11,894 assists. This season, he has a chance to overtake Jason Kidd, who is at 12,091 assists, especially if he maintains his assists-per-game average of 6.8 from last season. With 2.17 meter tall Victor Wembanyama as his target, Paul is well-equipped to continue his climb up the leaderboard.
