Capitals 2024-25 intro season hype video featuring franchise legends and fans celebrating their 50th anniversary

The Washington Capitals will drop the puck on their 50th anniversary season on Saturday night.

After a grueling training camp, a long wait for the season, and some fantastic celebrations of team history, the Capitals are finally ready to begin their 2024-25 season. Before the puck drop, the team released a hype video to get fans in the mood before the team’s game against the New Jersey Devils.

The video features guest appearances from franchise legends TJ Oshie, Nicklas Backstrom, Peter Bondra, Tom Wilson, Olie Kolzig, Braden Holtby, John Carlson and Alex Ovechkin.

Starting with Oshie, the video is narrated by all of the Capitals legends, both past and present, reading the same script. Several of the team’s original fans also make an appearance.

50 years of Capitals hockey. 50 years of history in the nation’s capital and throughout the DMV.

It all started in 1974. From the players who paved the way to the fans who have been with us from the beginning.

We have built a legacy here in DC.

We’re proud to rock Rock the Red. And the black and gold.

And when we won the Stanley Cup, we all celebrated.

Some more than others.

For the last 50 years and the next 50. This is our legacy. A legacy in ALL CAPS.

Throughout the video, clips from the team’s past are shown, including a faceoff from the inaugural season at the Capital Center, Holtby’s “The Save” against the Vegas Golden Knights, Lars Eller’s Cup-winning goal, and the team’s famous celebrations in the Georgetown Fountains.

“It all started in 1974…” the Capitals wrote on X. “and our legacy continues tonight #ALLCAPS”

Well, we’re ready to run through a brick wall. What’s wrong with you?
