Savannah State wins two games in a row for the first time since 2022

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – In their first home game since September 14th, the Savannah State Tigers defeated the Lincoln Oaklanders 30-18.

The game was originally scheduled for 6 p.m., but was pushed back an hour because Lincoln arrived late.

Savannah State got off to a strong start while keeping the Oaks off the field, and the Tigers led 17-0 at halftime.

SSU extended its lead on its first possession of the second half when quarterback Jhaydon Sullivan handed the ball to Demeke Colbert for a 4-yard touchdown to make the score 23-0.

Lincoln responded and got on the board with a 28-yard touchdown pass to start erasing the deficit.

The Tigers’ offense continued to roll, scoring another touchdown on a 50-yard pass from Sullivan to Colbert.

Savannah State wins it 30-18 – the first time they have won two games in a row since 2022. The Tigers improve to 3-3 this season.

The Tigers next play at Edward Waters on October 19th at 6 p.m
