Josh Simmons injury update: What Ryan Day said about Ohio State football left tackle

EUGENE, Ore. – Ohio State football lost 32-21 at Oregon on Saturday. The loss was underpinned by unfortunate news about the status of starting left tackle Josh Simmons.

After the game, coach Ryan Day said, “It’s not looking good” about the likelihood of Simmons returning this season.

Simmons was sent off midway through the second quarter. Day did not specify what the injury was.

Zen Michalski replaced Simmons.

According to Pro Football Focus, Simmons is the Buckeyes’ best pass blocker. He played 283 snaps this season in Saturday’s contest after playing 825 snaps last year.

Simmons is a product of San Diego, California. He was a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

He spent his first two seasons of college football at San Diego State. He transferred to Ohio State ahead of the 2023 campaign.

Michalski is a graduate of Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
