Game Freak has reportedly been hacked, with source codes for Pokemon games reportedly leaked | GBAtemp.net

It seems that another “gigaleak” involving Nintendo has happened. According to online sources, Game Freak appears to have been hacked, resulting in the company’s internal data being leaked to the public. Those involved in the hacking community or general Pokemon groups claim that while they won’t discuss or analyze the details of the leak, it is initially claimed that there is a total of 1TB of data.

These reportedly include the source code for Pokemon Platinum, source codes for Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, beta builds of Pokemon Black and White 2, beta builds of Pokemon X and Y, and potential internal codenames for upcoming Pokemon projects. It mentions an online Pokémon game, a collaboration between Game Freak and Studio ILCA, with the Nintendo Switch 2’s possible codename being Ounce, and a project called Gaia, which may represent the next generation of Pokémon titles.

More details will gradually be released on X, and as more becomes clear, we will be sure to update this post with new information.

[UPDATE]

  • Since some data from the Gigaleak points to a “Gen 10” Pokémon game, industry insider NecroLipe claims that Pokémon Gaia will be released for both the Switch and the successor system.
  • ResetEra users claim that the leak contains a playable version of Legends ZA.
  • Ikkaku, Gaia-K and Gaia-N are all codenames with Nintendo Switch product codes.
  • Synapse appears to be an “online multiplayer” game. This is the collaborative project with ILCA that worked on BD/SP. One claim says it’s similar to an MMO, while another claims it’s more like Splatoon.
  • Contrary to claims that there is a version of Legends ZA that is nearing completion, the leaker has apparently said that he does not want to spoil the surprises of future unreleased games and therefore these will not be included in the leak.
