Social media explodes after Andy Kotelnicki’s flag football play design ends in a TD

Tyler Warren is Penn State’s best offensive player. Not only because he is an all-time great tight end in program history, but also because he can play almost any position on offense. He has played quarterback, running back, wide receiver and now center. Offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki is really testing the limits of Warren’s versatility and playmaking capabilities.

Kotelnicki came to Penn State from Kansas, where he is known for his creative formations, but the breakout he made against USC, when quarterback Drew Allar connected with Warren for a 32-yard touchdown, is something almost no one has ever seen.

Warren motioned to play up the middle while Drew Allar spread wide and Beau Pribula took the shotgun snap. Pribula, the backup quarterback, threw a reverse throw to Allar, and Allar found Warren in the end zone. It took a hard-fought catch from Warren, but of course social media exploded after this ridiculous play call worked perfectly.

Fans aren’t just thrilled with how creative Kotelnicki has been with his offensive weapons. One of Penn State’s biggest fans and a former quarterback who may have been happy to pay for Kotelnicki sends his praise to his former teammate.

Despite a standout performance from Warren and a creative game plan from Kotelnicki, No. 4 Penn State trails USC 20-13 in the third quarter at the LA Coliseum. Kotelnicki may only have the kitchen sink left, but he’ll have to throw that to the Trojans, too. Penn State has struggled to establish the run game and Allar hasn’t connected with many weapons other than Warren, so more tricks may be coming.
