The US 50 Middle Bridge in Gunnison will open to all traffic in mid-October

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – The Colorado Department of Transportation announced Friday that major structural repairs have been completed on the US 50 Middle Bridge.

These repairs will allow the bridge to open in a single-lane configuration to all allowable loads in a pilot operation on Wednesday, October 16, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The final construction phases will continue to take place overnight from 11:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Night travelers must expect significant delays.

Traffic across the bridge will continue to be directed in one direction, with heavier vehicles – such as semi-trucks, charter buses and Class A RVs – being directed across the bridge one at a time.

Pilot car operations on County Road 26 will be suspended as the bridge reopens to all vehicle types.
