Fourteen years after its initial release, the long-missing PC port of the original Red Dead Redemption cost a “commercially correct”

Last year, everyone kind of hated Rockstar’s baffling decision to port 2010’s Red Dead Redemption to Switch and PS4, not really adding anything, charging $50 for the game, and continuing RDR’s decade-plus snub of PC gamers. We had a brief moment of joy when we saw the lauded cowboy sim finally hitting Steam on October 29th, but when I saw the price, I got a major reality check.

It’s not exactly a surprise that this port doesn’t see a price drop compared to last year’s PS4/Switch release, but it still sucks. It’s a testament to the game’s value that not only is it worth waiting 14 years for a Rockstar game, but it’s also almost worthy of the price of a full-fledged triple-A re-release. After the price dispute last year, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick claimed that the price was “commercially correct” and that even RDR1’s package with the Undead Nightmare expansion was “great value for consumers.”
