The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE could cause two surprises

Samsung introduced its latest fan edition phone, the Galaxy S24 FE, just a few weeks ago. But it seems the company already has some radical plans for its successor early next year.

Citing supply chain reports, Korean outlet The Elec reports that the Galaxy S25 FE will retain the 6.7-inch format, mirroring the Galaxy S24 FE’s oversized approach. The increase in display size this year has been somewhat controversial, but it seems there are some interesting changes coming in 2025.

The report from Samsung’s home market states that the Galaxy S25 FE will come onto the market as a “slim” model. To achieve this, Samsung could shrink the battery pack while increasing the surface area.

Well, the latest prediction is quite surprising and also somewhat well known. We’ve already come across several reports claiming that Apple has an iPhone 17 “Air” in development and that it could well benefit from the battery advancements that the company has already introduced with the iPhone 16 Pro.

There was once a time in the industry when making slimmer devices was all the rage. Back in 2014, the Vivo V5 Max proved to be the world’s slimmest phone with a cross-section of just 4.75mm, which is almost half the thickness of the iPhone 16 Pro.

The trend soon faded into the background. The change came out of necessity as demand for more powerful camera modules, larger batteries and technologies such as wireless charging surged due to their practical use. But that doesn’t mean that smartphone manufacturers have given up on this ambition, as the race to be thinner has now also reached the foldable phone segment.

As far as the Galaxy S25 FE is concerned, the future is still a bit far away. In the future, plans could also change as testing and validation of the prototypes begins in Samsung’s laboratories.

Speaking of plans, it seems that MediaTek has inked a lucrative deal with Samsung, with the Galaxy S25 series taking center stage. According to a new leak (via Gadgets 360), the Galaxy S25 FE will have the newly introduced Dimensity 9400 system ticking on a chip.

For the rest of the mainline Galaxy S25 series phones, Samsung has reportedly signed Qualcomm as the sole supplier. The silicon in question is most likely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which will also be used in devices like the OnePlus 13 and other Android flagships from 2025.
