Sam Mitchell makes a deal with NBA TV co-host after an awkward on-air interaction

Former Minnesota Timberwolves player Sam Mitchell revealed the address of his NBA TV co-host Chris Miles on Friday night after an awkward on-air interaction in which Mitchell was visibly frustrated by Miles’ comments.

In a pregame segment on NBA television before a preseason game between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings, Miles Mitchell, who played 10 of his 13 NBA seasons with the Wolves, asked for his thoughts on Warriors coach Steve Kerr having none afterward He led Team USA to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics this summer.

“I saw that. Coaches don’t get a medal. I guess it just shows you in international basketball how much they value coaches. Not at all,” Mitchell said. “How do coaches (not) get a gold medal?”

Miles then took a dig at Mitchell, a former coach of the Toronto Raptors from 2004 to 2008 and interim coach of the Wolves in 2016.

“I’m surprised coaches get a paycheck for this show,” Miles quipped. “I think maybe you should volunteer.”

That comment obviously frustrated Mitchell and sparked a minute-long awkward interaction between the two.

“You know, the last time I looked at my check, it was pretty close (to pro bono),” Mitchell said. “So hey, I’m accepting donations. Why don’t you get some of the money you’ve got since you bragged about it over there?”

Miles responded that he wasn’t bragging about anything, and Mitchell continued to press him about supposed rental properties like a beach house in Florida and a townhouse in Georgia. Miles looked stunned and asked what was wrong.

“You wanna call me, I mean, come on,” Mitchell said. “You scream broken and hungry, let’s just see. You know, I know what you have and where you live, young guy, so you have to stop.”

Miles retorted that they had “top” on the show, even though Mitchell called them “truth tellers.” Miles tried to get back on track with the Kings and Warriors, but Mitchell did it again before they got to the NBA talk.

“You have to stop messing with me on national television,” Mitchell said. “I told you about it. Do I have to give out the address because you’re not home right now?”

The two then eventually moved on to talking about another game between the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers that was taking place in Seattle, with Mitchell saying he believes there should still be an NBA team in the city .

But shortly thereafter, the awkward interaction came to a head when Mitchell left an address in Destin, Florida.

“I think this is your house,” Miles said.

Mitchell clapped back that it was Miles’ rental property. Miles then awkwardly switched back to the Warriors-Kings game before they soon went off the air, saying the duo would be back for the halftime and postgame shows.

It was as awkward an interaction as we’ve ever seen on television, and one imagines that Friday night won’t be the last we hear of the strange on-air interaction between the two.
