AR Rahman supports US presidential candidate Kamala Harris with 30-minute video: “More than a musical event”

AR Rahman, the legendary music composer, is making headlines for supporting Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the US presidential election on November 5. The music icon recently recorded a 30-minute performance video to show her support for the US presidential candidate, which is expected to provide a major boost to the Democratic presidential campaign ahead of the November 5 general election.

The 57-year-old globally renowned Indian composer and musician, who is of mixed Indian and African heritage, is the first major international artist from South Asia to endorse Kamala Harris.

After the AAPI Victory Fund announced that AR Rahman had recorded an exclusive 30-minute appearance in support of Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign, the fund’s chairman, Shekar Narasimhan, said: “With this appearance, AR Rahman has added his voice to a choir of Added leaders and politicians. “Artists committed to progress and representation in America,” PTI reported.

He added: “This is more than just a music event, it is a call to action for our communities to get involved and vote for the future we want to see.”

Where to watch AR Rahman’s exclusive appearance?

AR Rahman’s exclusive appearance will be available on AAPI Victory Fund’s YouTube channel and major South Asian broadcasters including AVS and TV Asia.

Aimed at strengthening support for the Harris-Walz campaign among South Asian voters worldwide, the video recording will debut on AAPI’s YouTube on October 14 at 5:30 a.m. (October 14-13 at 8:00 p.m. ET). Victory Fund aired.

The clip features some of AR Rahman’s most popular songs, peppered with messages. According to a press release, the video highlights Kamala Harris’ historic candidacy and commitment to the AAPI community. In the teaser of the 30-minute clip, AR Rahman and Indiaspora founder MR Rangaswami can be seen preparing for the performance.
