A nice and warm weekend with lots of sunshine

Sunny skies and seasonal temperatures open the weekend, just in time for Mumfest in New Bern. Highs will be in the upper 70s both days, with a light southwest breeze 5-15 mph. Overnight lows will be in the upper 40s and 50s, upper 50s and lower 60s. As we approach Monday, it will be the last bit of warmth we can linger around ENC. Late in the day we could see a scattered shower or rain, but the majority will be dry as it is part of a cold front and this will bring us our first taste of autumnal air. Highs will fall into the 60s and overnight lows will fall into the mid 40s. We will also see northwest breezes up to 15-20 mph and gusts up to 25-30 mph. The breeze will continue into Wednesday morning before calming down and becoming a sustained north-northeast breeze at 5 to 10 mph. Thursday morning there could be some frost in some areas early in the morning as we could wake up to temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Sensitive plants must be protected or brought indoors. More of the cooler air mass will continue into next weekend.
