The Indianola Department of Public Safety hosted its annual public safety open house Thursday, inviting the public to meet staff and learn about fire safety in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week. The Indianola Noon Lions were on hand to provide attendees with hot dogs and sides, something President John Akers told KNIA News has enjoyed doing for decades.

“We have a long history of working with the Indianola Fire Department and other public safety agencies and we have raised funds to help the fire department purchase additional laryngoscopes that we hope we will never need, but what a good cause.”

A laryngoscope is a device used in medical procedures to visualize the trachea by inserting a spatula with a small light into the patient’s mouth.
