Community divided over video of teens allegedly attacking mother

A video of two teens following a Canton mother into a restaurant after she said they attacked her by throwing a bottle and threatening to “break” her 11-month-old daughter’s neck is sparking mixed emotions .

On Instagram it seems to be 50/50 where people stand.

Some say the mother, Lydia, overreacted.

One user says: “These kids are carrying guns in their book bags these days. I just avoid them out of respect.”

Another user commented: “Looks like she started with them and then ran into the store to make it seem like they were harassing her.”

FOX45 showed the video to Leroy Pinder.

“No, size doesn’t matter. “If you commit a crime, that’s it,” Pinder said.

Pinder has been in Baltimore his entire life.

“I’ve lived here for 70 years and never thought about moving until this happened,” Pinder said.

Pinder, who has young grandchildren, took the incident personally.

“If that had been my wife or my daughter or my mother or whoever, I would have slapped them because that’s not fair,” Pinder said.

Pinder, like so many others FOX45 spoke with, is fed up with current juvenile crime laws.

“They turn these little kids into criminals because they feel like they have the opportunity now, oh. “I’ll be out in an hour,” Pinder said.
