Week 7 schedule what to watch

Week 7 of an active and potentially impactful college football schedule begins Saturday with several high-profile games that could impact what the playoffs look like. These are the top games to watch today.

As conference play continues to ramp up in October, we have games coming up that will have a direct impact on how the race for the league title and the hunt for the College Football Playoff ultimately unfolds.

This includes a historic edition of the Red River Shootout between two old border rivals looking to gain an edge in the SEC title game.

And there are two important Big Ten tournaments on the West Coast: one about undefeated contenders, another about averting disaster, and others about giving the selection committee something to remember in December .

As the Week 7 schedule begins today, here’s a look at the biggest games on your TV screen that you should pay the most attention to.

Always east

South Carolina in Alabama

Why watch? Just to keep an eye on the Crimson Tide, who suffered the surprising loss to Vanderbilt last week, are trying to quickly regroup and get aggressive against the Gamecocks, but the visitors are playing physical football up front and can push Jalen Milroe around the pocket .

12 p.m. on ABC

Texas vs. Oklahoma

Why watch? This is always a date for college football fans, but this time the Longhorns are the No. 1 team in the country and are looking to make a statement heading into next week’s game against Georgia as the Sooners try to close a deficit to 1-2 avoid The SEC is playing with a tough schedule going forward.

3:30 p.m. on ABC

Penn State at USC

Why watch? Penn State appears to be strong on defense and football, but it hasn’t really been tested yet. That should change against a USC team that is suddenly desperate to turn things around in Big Ten play and will give it everything it has. That’s a lot considering the talent the Trojans have on offense. But will the time change and distance impact the Nittany Lions?

3:30 p.m. on CBS

Ole Miss at LSU

Why watch? Watching two SEC contenders, both in need of a conference win, compete under the lights in one of college football’s most intense home game environments. LSU struggles in the secondary but throws the ball very well, while Ole Miss is coming off a physical game last weekend and has a chance to make a statement early in the off-week.

7:30 p.m. on ABC

Ohio State at Oregon

Why watch? Two undefeated Big Ten and national title contenders in another of college football’s craziest venues, wild Autzen Stadium, where Oregon is 34-1 since 2018. Both teams have elite talent that can take the top spot off a defense at any time, and the winner could, could even have a case for being No. 1 in next week’s rankings.

7:30 p.m. on NBC

Kansas State at Colorado

Why watch? Kansas State plays hard-nosed ground and pound football, and Colorado likes to spread things out in a dynamic vertical attack in a duel of opposing styles. And the Buffaloes appear to be an improved product over last year, as they came into the game 4-1 and 2-0 in Big 12 play. K-State has already suffered one conference loss and cannot afford another in this road game.

10:15 p.m. on ESPN

The game odds are updated regularly and are subject to change.
