What are we all playing this weekend?

What are we all playing this weekend?

The regular comments on this column tell me that many of you are cat owners. That’s why this week I want someone to explain to me how my cat can easily hop across a room, jump and catch a moving dressing gown string. Yet I can’t manage to find the smelly Cheese Dreamie that I hold out to her without several moments to smell for a long time in unrelated places. In any case, this is my new favorite video game that demands a lot from any other game.

Still, they keep trying. We’ll click on that this weekend.

I’d like to race and smash some cars at Wreckfest, which I’ve been doing more and more as a little treat before bed on the weekends. They’re so cute when they crumple up. D’awww.

A quiet weekend for me, my sofa and my deck. I’m going to play the hot new game of 2024, Dead Cells. I can’t get enough of it.

More Unicorn Overlord for me this weekend via Nintendo’s unholy alternate reality Steam deck. I haven’t even finished the demo after four hours of playing. Craziness! I play mostly because the art is so brilliant, but as a strategy game it also has its appeal. You basically fill units with different combinations of named characters, give them waypoints, and watch them fight automatically. I’m now so proficient that I can do this with one hand while stirring a pot of beans. No, that’s not a euphemism.

I’ll have limited time for gaming this weekend, which means no Dune Imperium. Minecraft and Ni no Kuni are here to stay, though, and I’ll probably combine them with crawling around in some more vents in the frustrating, broken, and wonderful Shadows Of Doubt.

What is that? Did Team Fortress 2 have a real update? Looks like I’m back to my 17 year old shooting bullshit, folks.

This weekend I’ll be catching up on sleep and continuing to prepare for the spooky season by playing more Hollowbody. Might as well complete my second playthrough of Carpathian Night (starring Bela Lugosi), because what better way to get in the Halloween spirit than by playing a Castlevania-like game or two?

More from Metaphor: ReFantazio’s demo for me, maybe more to come if I get hooked. I think it’s probably the best JRPG I’ve played in years in terms of style and creativity, but it’s still a JRPG, which means the chances of me ever finishing it are pretty slim. I have goodies to hang around! Maybe more Space Marine 2 when the new mission maps appear.

Ollie fell into a well. Again. The same also applies. Just move the fountain!

But you, dear reader, what are you playing this weekend?
