Chappell Roan and Texas football receive subtle praise at Blink-182’s latest Austin show

Everyone is a Chappell Roan fan – even Blink-182.

The legendary pop-punk band honored the “Midwest Princess” during their recent performance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on Friday, October 11th.

How, you may ask? By combining her fan-favorite song “Pink Pony Club” with her 1997 banger “Dammit” at the ACL Festival.

The band also had a few pointed words for the Oklahoma Sooners ahead of the Red River rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma.

Although Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus didn’t specifically say “OU sucks” – the Texas Longhorns’ favorite thing to say about the Sooners – he did speak ill of them in front of the Austin crowd after repeating a few lines from “Deep In The Heart.” “Of” had sung “Texas” and the participants responded with thunderous applause.

The band literally proved that they never grow up throughout their performance, thanks to the constant conversations between Mark Hoppus and guitarist Tom DeLonge throughout the show. You know, the kind of talk you’d expect from bandmates who’ve been working together since 1992 (apart from the time they went their separate ways and formed separate bands like Angels & Airwaves and +44).

The band’s performance at ACL was their last in North America, and what better way to close that chapter than by singing “Pink Pony Club” before Chappell Roan’s second ACL set on Sunday, October 13th?
