Brenham uses the big first quarter to get past Waco at Homecoming

BRENHAM, Texas (KBTX) – The Brenham Cubs scored early and often on Friday at Cub Stadium, defeating Waco 55-0 in front of a large homecoming crowd.

The Cubs started the game quickly by taking advantage of a surprise onside kick early in the game.

Brenham capped the ensuing drive with a 7-yard touchdown from JaKoby Dixon to take a 7-0 lead.

Brenham blocked a punt out of the end zone and extended the lead to 9-0. On the ensuing drive, Dixon converted a screen pass into a 50-yard touchdown reception and extended the lead to 17-0 after a two-point conversion.

Dixon scored again after the Cubs’ defense forced a Waco interception and returned to the Lions’ 4-yard line.

Brenham scored 31 points in the first quarter en route to a 55-0 victory.

Brenham improves to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in district play. The Cubs will host Rudder on Friday, October 18th.
