MASSILLON Another week, another challenge for the Massillon football team (5-2).

The Tigers will host Legacy School of Sports Sciences from Texas tonight. Legacy (3-3) has a number of Division I college prospects on the team and will bring a lot of size along with the offensive line, which is nothing new for the Tigers.

Ja’Meir Gamble’s big evening continues

It didn’t take long for Massillon to benefit from the Legacy School of Sports Sciences’ sales. Ja’Meir Gamble ran straight down the middle for a 68-yard touchdown on the first play after the turnover. The kick wasn’t good. Massillon led the Titans 27-0 with 9:19 left in the third quarter. Gamble scored all four touchdowns for Massillon tonight.

A promising campaign by the Legacy School of Sports Sciences was cut short by Daylan Pringle. Pringle intercepted a Titan pass at the Tigers’ 6-yard line and returned it to the Massillon 32.

Ja’Meir Gamble just added another touchdown to his total. Gamble showed impressive speed and scored a 36-yard touchdown. Gamble ran to the outside, fended off the only Legacy defender on goal and escaped unscathed to score. The decisive play was set up by a 41-yard reception from Ricardo Wells by Jalen Slaughter on the previous play. Mateo Herrera’s extra point was good. Massillon leads Legacy School of Sports Sciences 21-0 with 8:41 left in the second quarter.

Legacy School of Sports Sciences misses field goal attempt

Legacy School of Sports Sciences had a 25-yard field goal attempt wide of the left net. It was a great effort by the Massillon defense to force the field goal attempt. Landon Binford had a 21-yard run to get the ball to the Massillon 2-yard line for the Titans. Legacy wouldn’t come any closer. Massillon stuffed the first Titan run for no gain. Massillon safety Tyler Hackenbracht tackled Legacy for a 5-yard loss on second and goal. The third-and-goal from the Tigers’ 7-yard line was an incomplete pass.

Massillon will lead the Legacy School of Sports Sciences after the first quarter

At the end of the first quarter, Massillon trails Legacy School of Sports Sciences 14-0. At the start of the second quarter, the Titans will have the ball at the Tigers’ 23-yard line. Ja’Lyn Dargens recovered a Massillon fumble, giving Legacy excellent field position for this drive.

The Tiger defense forced a three-and-out to set up the touchdown push.

Ja’Meir Gamble put Massillon on the board on the first drive of the game. Gamble just launched into a 21-yard touchdown run. Gamble had some really nice runs on this trip. Mateo Herrera’s extra point was good. Massillon leads Legacy School of Sports Sciences 7-0 with 8:36 left in the first quarter. Braylyn Toles caught a 33-yard pass from Jalen Slaughter to set up Gamble’s score.
