Dodgers-Padres Game 5 live updates: odds, analysis, viewing and news

Memorable postseason moment: We included Kirk Gibson’s legendary home run on last year’s list. This video would never be boring for anyone. But instead, let’s go back to the only World Series the Dodgers won at Dodger Stadium: 1963. In Game 1, Sandy Koufax faced the 15-win Yankees led by Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. In Game 4, he went the distance again to complete the sweep. The two complete games – 18 innings, three runs – earned Koufax a World Series MVP.

Our Take: It started playfully on Sunday when Jurickson Profar drew 50,000 Dodgers fans. It ended with a tense delay as beer rained down on the warning track. It wasn’t the best moment at Dodger Stadium. (It was, however, a testament to the Padres’ ability to get under the skin of their opponents and the opposing crowd.) Aside from last Sunday…

There is no other setting like Dodger Stadium. The ballpark is huge, expansive and picturesque. When it’s filled to the brim in October, it’s deafening. Tommy Edman knew this before he was traded to the Dodgers this summer. A few years ago he lost a wild card game at Dodger Stadium. “Every time I came here during my time in St. Louis, I noticed how loud it was,” Edman said. “It’s nice to be on that side of things.” Profar may have single-handedly knocked Dodger Stadium down a spot in the rankings this Sunday, but it’s still a special environment for postseason baseball.
