Danny Trejo Enjoys Playing a “Good” Villain in Charming New Horror/Comedy Film “Seven Cemeteries”

HOLLYWOOD – Danny Trejo leads the cast of new horror/thriller/comedy film Seven Cemeteries. He gets help from an actor we met for the role of Napoleon Dynamite’s friend, Pedro. Clearly the cast formed a bond.

“We were getting ready to shoot a scene and then we all started laughing at the scene and it was eight minutes before we stopped and started,” Trejo said.

In “Seven Cemeteries,” Trejo plays a man currently in prison who is asked to save a woman’s ranch from an evil, violent drug lord. A witch uses her craft to revive his old force… and the living dead join the fight for justice and revenge.

Bottom line here: Do you really want to compete against someone Danny portrays?

“I’m playing a ‘good’ villain now. I used to be an ‘evil’ villain. I play a good villain because in this movie there are zombies and good guys like that!” Trejo laughed.

One of the living dead is “Napoleon Dynamite” favorite Efren Ramirez…who has a hideous look for his often comedic role.

“I was probably going for the look and feel of Beetlejuice,” Ramirez said. “And I sat in the chair for almost three hours just to give the perfect impression of being dead.”

Ramirez has some advice for those interested in watching “Seven Cemeteries.”

“Watch it and watch it again because the second time you watch it you’ll see the little nuances,” Ramirez said.

“It’s so well mixed that it’s hard to say, ‘Is this a comedy or a horror?’ But it’s funny and scary,” Trejo said.

It’s available now in theaters, on-demand and digitally.
