Tuscaloosa city leaders have cut the ribbon to reopen Snow Hinton Park

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – It’s official in Tuscaloosa! Just in time for the first major event next weekend, city officials cut the ribbon in the newly renovated Snow Hinton Park on McFarland Boulevard.

It was a $10 million job that included new sidewalks, better lighting, improved security and landscaping.

The city government cut the ribbon on Friday and officially reopened the park to everyone. The renovations were particularly gratifying for Peggy Hogue, the eldest daughter for whom the park was named years ago, and her father, the late Mayor Snow Hinton.

“The Hinton family is blessed to be here today (Friday). “My father would be so proud and humbled by the recognition and everyone in our community who loves and supports this park,” said Peggy Hogue.

“Bryan, it’s worth every penny. I believe this is worth every penny and in my opinion just the fact that Kentuck is here every year will bring back revenue that will more than fund this park,” said Tuscaloosa City Councilman John Faile.

“I have fully supported this project from the beginning. That was in my district for 26 years. Redistricting has been Mr. Faile’s responsibility for the last two years now and he has done a great job and worked so hard,” said Tuscaloosa City Councilman and President Kip Tyner.

Faile mentioned the Kentuck Arts Festival. Kentuck is the first major event for the park, scheduled for next weekend, October 19th and 20th.
