GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – The Green Bay Packers hosted a special flag football tournament for military personnel Friday morning.

It was held at the Titletown football field as part of the team’s Salute to Service and Military Appreciation Week.

It allowed service members to socialize, get some exercise, and have a little friendly competition between the different branches.

“You will notice that the longer we stay here, the friendlier we become with each other. Definitely some dark humor, maybe some Magic Johnson Larry Bird humor and trash talk. But it’s all fun and good humor, and then we all go home,” said Robert Mattice, who serves in the Army National Guard.

“It’s great, we’re usually in more remote locations and it’s not often that we get all the branches together. So this is special for us,” said Adam Duffek, who serves in the U.S. Coast Guard.

This was just one event the Packers helped host this month to honor our military heroes. Other events included an honor flight, a veteran integration program and the creation of care packages for local seniors.
