Chadron PD Makes Arrest at Local Restaurant – KCSR/KBPY

On October 11, 2024, Chadron Police were alerted to a stolen motor vehicle
From the east, travel west on Highway 20 with New Mexico license plates to Chadron.

The vehicle was a gray 2018 Audi Q3. Officers began searching for the vehicle and located a vehicle that matched the stolen vehicle at a local restaurant in Chadron. Chadron officers requested assistance from the Dawes County Sheriff’s Office and together officers and deputies made contact with the vehicle in the restaurant’s parking lot. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of contact.

Chadron police officers entered the restaurant and contacted three people who were inside the restaurant, saying they were occupants of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 22-year-old Ramon Romero of Taos Pueblo, New Mexico. During the investigation, officers
learned that Romero had two warrants for his arrest out of New Mexico.

Romero was then arrested and taken to the Dawes County Jail.

Romero was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle (Class IIA felony), possession of marijuana less than one ounce (violation), and possession of drug paraphernalia (violation).

Additionally, Romero was arrested on multiple warrants related to his arrest outside of New Mexico.
Chadron Police received assistance from the Dawes County Sheriff’s Office
with this investigation.
