Spread: UNLV -18.5 | Will the rebels cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 7 predictions here

UNLV’s College Football Playoff hopes suffered a major setback last week when the Rebels fell to Power Four foe Syracuse in a road game Friday night. The Rebels spent a week in the AP Top 25 — their first such ranking ever — before exiting. Other than that, everything is still ahead of them. UNLV opened Mountain West Conference play with a 59-14 win over a really good Fresno State team. Now it’s the heavy favorite on the road against Utah State, which suffered a 62-30 loss to Boise State. The Aggies have now lost four straight games since their season-opening win against Robert Morris.

UAB in the army

Spread: Army -24.5 | Will the Black Knights cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 7 predictions here

These caissons are rolling along. Army has emerged as a legitimate College Football Playoff contender in its first season in the American Athletic Conference. The Black Knights just scored a season-high 49 points in a win over Tulsa and have yet to allow more than 14 points in a game this season. UAB presents a great opportunity for Jeff Monken’s team to move to 5-0 in AAC play. The Blazers are reeling under coach Trent Dilfer and hit a new low on Oct. 5 with a 71-20 loss to Tulane. This was UAB’s fourth straight loss by double digits as it outscored FBS opponents by an average of 27.5 points.

Spread: San Diego State -1 | Will the Aztecs cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 7 predictions here

This game is crucial for two teams trying to avoid the bottom of the Mountain West Conference. Two of their three combined wins have come against league opponents, but both San Diego State and Wyoming are under .500 this year. Offensive battles are a big reason for this. The Aztecs rank 10th in the Mountain West in total offense (322 yards per game) and scoring (20.6 points per game), while the Cowboys rank 12th out of 12 teams in total offense (242 YPG) and take 11th place in the points ranking (16.4 pages per minute). Be the subordinate if you feel like it.

Spread: Oregon State -4.5 | Will the Beavers cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 7 predictions here

This is not a Mountain West game, although Oregon State plays a Mountain West Conference schedule for all intents and purposes. It will have to do for the Beavers, because they won’t have a full conference home until 2026, after the Pac-12 was gutted and then (partially) resurrected as part of the latest round of realignment. Despite all the uncertainty, the Beavers had a great season. Their only loss to date came against an Oregon team that is now ranked third nationally. Otherwise, three of Oregon State’s four wins have come by at least 17 points. The Beavers look to move on against a Nevada team that has just one win since August 31st.

No. 17 Boise State in Hawaii

Date: Saturday, Oct. 12 | Time: 11 p.m. ET
Location: Clarence TC Ching Athletics Complex – Honolulu, Hawaii

Spread: Boise State -21 | Will the Broncos cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 7 predictions here

Boise State is currently the heavy favorite to represent the Group of Five in the College Football Playoff. The Broncos also have a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender in running back Ashton Jeanty, who has rushed for 1,031 yards and 16 touchdowns in just five games. He also has fewer than 100 carries on the year and his rushing average – which currently stands at 10.9 yards per carry – increases every time he touches the ball. Boise State’s only loss this year came on the road, but against No. 3 Oregon. Hawaii is still looking for its first win against an FBS team despite being 2-1 at home. That only loss was by three points against power conference opponent UCLA.
