NHL Mock Draft 2025: Far too early predictions for the first round

NHL Mock Draft 2025: Far too early predictions for the first round

Yes, the NHL regular season has just begun. And yes, most teams only played one of two games. But that doesn’t stop us from looking forward to the end of June 2025, when the 2025 NHL Draft will take place. Why not release a way-too-early mock draft on the first weekend of the regular season?

For this way-too-early mock draft, I used the NHL playoff odds on MoneyPuck from before regular season games began in North America. I should note that these odds are updated daily, so the current rankings have shifted since this order was determined for a first weekend of the regular season mock draft.

As I have always done in the past, I follow draft rankings from many sources (The athleteElite Prospects, NHL Central Scouting and other prospect analysts) to compile my own rankings and create a mock draft. Since it’s still so early in the season(s) for NHL teams and these prospects, I won’t go into much detail about individual players at this point. Future mock drafts will contain more information, statistics and rationale for selections.
