Dog attack victim in Albany has died, authorities are now investigating

An unidentified man in Albany, New York, died after being attacked by “multiple dogs” and now local authorities are investigating the situation.

Albany police responded to reports of the attack around 5:55 p.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived, they noticed the man had been bitten by the group of dogs, police said in a news release posted on the department’s Facebook.

To stop the attack, one of the responding officers drew his service weapon and shot at least one of the dogs, according to the Facebook post.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police tore up all of the dogs and placed them in a facility, the release said.

The investigation into the attack is active and ongoing, the department said.

According to the National Library of Medicine, about 30 to 50 people die from dog bites each year.
