NBA fans alarmed by Joel Embiid’s latest injury update

NBA fans alarmed by Joel Embiid’s latest injury update

It seems Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid just can’t escape the injury bug.

Well, sort of. Embiid is not expected to travel with the team during the preseason road trip, Sixers coach Nick Nurse noted.

“He’s not here,” the nurse said. “He is having a scheduled check-up on his knee. That was always on the plan. We’re still waiting to see what’s next.”

If assessment was always meant to take place during pre-season, there’s no reason to worry, right? NBA fans found a way.

There’s basically no reason for the 30-year-old to appear in the preseason, as he’ll just run the risk of suffering an injury scare like that of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant. Still, the community was frustrated that Embiid was already dealing with an injury.

“I already have knee problems, I’m sure it will be a headache all season long,” one user wrote.

“Same story, new year. I don’t think it matters because the Celtics will do it again,” another posted.

Embiid’s participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics was a major topic of conversation as fans were divided over the implications. Some claimed the 76ers center shouldn’t have played for Team USA in the first place, while others showed how little it meant not to be with the team during preseason.

“Embiid played in the Olympics and everyone is nervous about him not playing in the preseason? lol,” said one fan.

Alternatively, newly signed Sixers star Paul George is expected to make his debut tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
