A Muskegon County woman had the random urge to buy a lottery ticket and ended up winning a $500,000 prize on the Michigan Lottery’s 777 Instant Jackpot Game!

The lucky 64-year-old player, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased her winning ticket at the McCormick gas station at 1845 White Lake Drive in Whitehall. Whitehall is located approximately 15 miles northwest of Muskegon.

“I hadn’t played the lottery for a while, but one day I suddenly felt the urge to buy an instant ticket,” said the player. “I scratched the lot when I got home and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I revealed a $500,000 prize! I told my husband the good news by showing him my winning ticket.

“Winning this award will allow me to become debt free and that will be an amazing feeling!”

The player recently visited the lottery headquarters to collect her big prize. She wants to use her winnings to pay bills and then save the rest.

Players have won more than $5 million on the 777 Jackpot Instant Game, which launched in August. Each $5 ticket offers players the chance to win prizes ranging from $5 to $500,000. More than $25 million in prizes remain, including two $500,000 prizes and 25 $2,000 prizes.

In 2023, lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion on instant games.

Lottery instant games can be purchased at retailers across the state.
