Diamond Jose Brito arrested in fatal shooting in Dorchester – NBC Boston

Boston police say they have made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting at a barbershop in Dorchester last month.

Diamond Jose Brito, 32, of Canton, was arrested Thursday evening in Mattapan by the Boston Police Fugitive Unit and members of the Massachusetts State Police and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, police said. He was wanted on multiple warrants from Dorchester District Court for the murder of 20-year-old Elijah Ricardo Clunie of Dorchester.

Brito is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Friday.

The arrest is in connection with a daytime shooting Sept. 2 at a hair salon on Washington Street in Dorchester. Police responded to a report that two people had been shot and when they arrived they found two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

The search for a person accused of a double shooting at a Dorchester barbershop continues Monday evening. NBC10 Boston obtained video of the moments after the gun was fired.

Both men were taken to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries, and one of them – Clunie – died in hospital. The name of the second victim was not released and police said he was expected to survive.

“He was a good kid,” Clunie’s grandfather, Renier Thompson, said after the shooting. “Skinny, wasn’t threatening. Looking at him, you wouldn’t be afraid of him…Looked like a baby on his face.”

Police had previously said they did not believe the shooting was a random incident.
