Everything Mississippi State coach Jeff Lebby said about Texas A&M’s home game

Mississippi State football coach Jeff Lebby met with the media for his weekly press conference Monday morning.

The Bulldogs’ first-year coach spoke about a variety of topics and issues after last week’s 41-31 loss to No. 5 Georgia and before this Saturday’s game against No. 14 Texas A&M.

Here’s everything Lebby said about Texas A&M and its first home game in three weeks:

Opening speech by Jeff Lebby

I’m incredibly excited to be back home and here at Davis Wade. I think everyone has seen that we’ve been on the road playing in incredible environments over the last two weeks and I can’t stress it enough that our guys are incredibly excited to be home in Davis Wade and our team of 2014, which had such, welcome back a special season. So we have a lot to be excited about and can’t wait to see our fan base back home.

What are your initial thoughts on Texas A&M?

They have a bye behind them, but they are a football team that is playing really well. They play free football. They play really well in all three phases. When you look at them defensively, statistically they are as good as we have played all year. Especially at the line of scrimmage on the defensive side, the ball is as good as any we’ve played against. Offensively, the QB came back last week and played the best game he had all year and distributed the ball really well, was really accurate and had a really good running game to go with it. So we have a top 15 team in town and another big challenge.

Can you say how big the impact was? [the home crowd] do for you whenever it rocks and the cowbells ring?

There is nothing better. Our atmosphere and our energy are still different than anywhere else in America. This will be a big advantage for us on Saturday afternoon. Our guys want this, man, they need this, they can’t wait to get back here at home. There’s a lot of excitement in our building just being able to be home and be at Davis Wade Stadium.
