Allegany County provides more than $50,000 for youth sports and development programs

Allegany County provides more than ,000 for youth sports and development programs

The Allegany County Board of Legislators has voted to allocate New York State-appropriated funds focused on supporting youth development projects and activities through local nonprofit organizations and/or community-operated youth programs. Funding was secured by Human Services Commissioner Don Horan and the winning applications were recommended by the Allegany County Youth Bureau.

The following awards are presented as part of the youth sports and educational opportunity:

Andover Youth Baseball $4,440.20
Core Learning Center $4,440.20
Cuba Little League $4,440.20
Fillmore Youth Soccer $4,440.20
YMCA of the Twin Tiers $4,440.20

The following awards fall under youth team sports:

Alfred-Almond Community Sports Association $4,512.40
Richburg-Bolivar Youth Soccer $4,512.40
Scio Youth Athletic Committee $4,512.40
Wellsville-Andover-Whitesville (WAW) Football $4,512.40
Wellsville Little League $4,512.40

Bolivar-Richburg Football & Cheer $5,172.00
Wellsville Youth Soccer $5,172.00

Grants were awarded to purchase safety equipment, AEDs, field maintenance, uniforms, mats, batting helmets, umpire fees, shoulder pads and more. All honorees must support positive youth development, physical health and well-being, mental health and well-being, and community cohesion. Don Horan, Commissioner of Human Services, shared, “I am very pleased that Allegany County was able to secure these funds for youth sports and recreation in the county and I believe this will have a very positive impact on our youth.” Additionally, Allegany County Youth Bureau Coordinator Brian Perkins would like to thank all of the coaches, parents and community members involved in youth sports and education to advance the youth of Allegany County.
